Weak Two Bids

A Weak Two Bid is an opening bid of 2D, 2H or 2S which shows a six card suit and 5-10 HCP.

You can have a defensive trick outside your suit and open a weak two, but you should not have a bad suit and a good hand.

A perfect weak two would look something like this:

A good suit, good distribution and no defensive value. Unfortunately we rarely hold these hands.

More often you will hold something like this:

Both are weak two opening bids. After you open a Weak Two, you do not bid again unless forced to by partner.

Responder to the opening Weak Two bidder can make a forcing bid by bidding a new suit. Also a response of 2NT asks the Weak Two opener if they have an A or K outside of their suit.

3♣ is a weak bid, showing a good six card suit or a seven card suit.

South's double is a takeout double asking partner to bid their longest suit and showing a good hand.

North should bid 4♠ since South should have extra value for a double at the three level.
